Hi there! My name is Steven and I have a passion for helping children and their families thrive. I earned my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Central Florida, where I developed a strong foundation in human movement and physiology. Driven by my desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others, I earned a Master’s in Occupational Therapy in 2016 from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. This is where I fell in love with the pediatric side of therapy. I take immense pride in being one of twelve occupational therapists in the state of North Carolina who are Board Certified in Pediatrics. I have had the honor to have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of children and their families, from 3 months old to young adulthood. The joy I feel in helping these young individuals reach their full potential is truly indescribable.

Throughout my career, I have developed a comprehensive skill set that allows me to provide holistic pediatric therapy across various areas. Sensory based therapy is my true passion. Although not easily understood, I feel sensory processing is often the “missing piece of the puzzle” when a family just can’t figure out how to meet their child’s needs. As our world becomes increasingly demanding from a sensory perspective, I hope I can teach, guide, and facilitate a more positive experience in everyone’s sensory world.

I am skilled at enhancing children’s gross, fine, and visual motor coordination, recognizing the importance of physical development in their overall well-being. I have more recently become fascinated by the world of executive functioning and have been honing my skills to support children, adolescents, and teens growth in this area by both improving their EF skills as well as helping develop compensatory strategies to increase their success in everyday life. . By focusing on these essential life skills, and tailoring therapy sessions to each child’s needs I hope to  empower children to become more independent and self-sufficient.

Another challenging, but rewarding area I can help with is overcoming picky eating behaviors. By employing effective strategies including the SOS approach, I help children develop a more varied and balanced diet, setting them on a path toward better overall health.

Lastly, I am dedicated to nurturing the social-emotional skills of the children I work with. By creating a supportive and inclusive environment, I help them develop stronger social skills and emotional resilience. This empowers them to navigate social interactions with confidence and build meaningful connections with others. I would like to add that getting to work with a great team of licensed mental health counselors has helped me gain vast knowledge in how to further support children and their family. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions on how OT can support you and your family!
